Admiral Richard E. Byrd Middle School Principal Teresa Ritenour has been named the school division’s new Director of Student Support Services. Mrs. Ritenour will succeed Mitch Peeling who is retiring at the end of August. The school division plans to name Mrs. Ritenour's successor prior to the start of the 2017-18 school year.

FCPS Purchases Land to Enhance Safety at Gainesboro Campus

The Frederick County School Board has approved the purchase of up to 31.29 acres adjacent to the Gainesboro Elementary School/Frederick County Middle School campus. Acquiring the property will allow safety to be enhanced at the site and enable the school division to build a road in the future connecting the school campus directly with Gainesboro Road.

FCPS to Expand Pilot Preschool Program

Frederick County Public Schools has been awarded additional grant funds that will allow the pilot preschool program being launched in 2017-18 to serve 18 additional students residing in the Indian Hollow and Gainesboro elementary school attendance zones.
